An Idea 25 Years In The Making
The Origin Story
Necessity is the mother of invention. Freedom Frame Bag creator Brian Wolffis recounts the fateful night in 1996 that, while doing battle with a traditional “mummy” sleeping bag, gave him the inspiration to design this groundbreaking product.
The Evolution of the Freedom Frame Sleeping Bag.
In 1959 there was a woman named Bertha Berman who had an idea to change the design of bed sheets which at that time were both the same, top and bottom. She attached the corners of the bottom sheet with elastic in essence creating the very first bottom fitted bed sheet. She patented the design us2907055 and now today, the fitted bed sheet is commonplace in hotels, homes and stores across North America and elsewhere.
In 1996 the Freedom Frame Bag was concieved under the same principle, that being to keep the four corners of the sleeping bag fully extended all night long allowing the person to move freely from within. We believe that the FFB design will replace the standard and mummy style sleeping bags just as the old style bed sheet is now no longer considered.

Dreamt it.
This idea came to me while on a campout as an assistant Scout leader with the Boy Scouts of America Troop 14 Spring Lake, MI.
Built it.
It started with just a simple strap on all four corners that would allow my legs freedom to move from within this mummy bag.

Adapt it.
Having modified the design over the course of many years to better suit the average camper whether they are a cot or ground sleeper, my patent approved design seeks to add comfort to those who enjoy nature and is equipped to have something everyone can use.
